The importance of empiricism in the work of Jan Evangelista Purkyně
Buřičová, Karolína Tamara ; Strnadová, Lucie (advisor) ; Arndt, Tomáš (referee)
The diploma thesis on the topic of The importance of empiricism in the work of Jan Evangelista Purkyně describes his approach to medicine, experiments designed by him and the study of the physiology of the human body through the senses. At the beginning of my work, I briefly describe the historical context and Purkyně's concept of subjective observation. His philosophical ideas about the soul and psychological knowledge are also described here. The main part of the work contains a detailed description of Purkyně's experiments in the field of experimental pharmacology, visual phenomena but also on hearing and dizziness. Based on these experiments, Purkyně then contributed to new discoveries key to medicine as we know it now.
Science experiments during free-time activities of school-aged children
Moulisová, Marie ; Čapek Adamec, Martin (advisor) ; Kropáčková, Jana (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the ways in which science (chemistry, physics, biology) and other related disciplines can be used in primary school children's leisure time activities. It presents a number of practical proposals as for how to make these subjects more accessible in an attractive way. The theoretical part briefly describes the individual subjects in question, a range of leisure-time facilities suitable for the intended activities, and specifies the characteristics of preschool children. The practical part brings a numer of possible experiments in the given subjects, together with their description and practical implementation. The proposals for experiments and activities are based on everyday life. The aim of this thesis is to make these often not fully understood everyday life situation accessible to children in an interesting and playful way. The final reflection is aimed at the assessment of the suitability of the individual proposals, and their possible pitfalls and improvements.
Educational use of geological park Czech Paradise in teaching upper primary school biology
Zrůstová, Klára ; Teodoridis, Vasilis (advisor) ; Skýbová, Jana (referee)
The presented diploma thesis has an educational character and tries to find a way how to teach geology more attractive at primary schools. It includes authorial proposals for field trip routes and school experiments that can be implemented in lessons or within other educational school activity during school year. The field trips are built to be carried out in the geological park of Bohemian Paradise because of its natural wealth giving many possibilities to be used in teaching geology and other related fields of natural sciences. The experiments are designed to be realized during school lessons, therefore they are meant to be as little as possible time consuming and also the necessary material is supposed to be easily available. A theoretical part of the diploma thesis contains a summary of available natural datasets about the geological park of Bohemian Paradise, a review of the educational principles for organising of the field trips, creating worksheets, experiments and games in teaching process. The principles of creating concept maps are also included. An integral part of the thesis is authorial research with students and teachers via questionnaire survey proving that experiments and field trips are an indispensable component of teaching process and appropriate motivational tools at primary...
Experiments from geometrical optics for teaching at primary and secondary school
Hložek, Filip ; Houfková, Jitka (advisor) ; Gottwald, Stanislav (referee)
Title: Experiments from geometrical optics for teaching at primary and secondary school Author: Ing. Filip Hložek Department: Department of Physics Education Supervisor: RNDr. Jitka Houfková, Ph.D., Department of Physics Education Abstract: This work is focused on experiments in geometric optics. There is a research of textbooks for primary and secondary schools, that deals with this topic of physics. Most of the work is dedicated to the proposed manuals for experiments for the excercise of geometric optics in Practical Course in School Experiments I. The manuals were tested with several groups of students at Practical Course. The test results are briefly summarized here, including several adjustments of the manuals that has risen from it. The work also deals with mirror telescopes, aberrations, and the production of models of two telescopes - Newtonian and Cassegrain printed on a 3D printer. The models are then used in two experiments for Practical Course. Keywords: experiments, geometrical optics, optical instruments
Experiments for Interactive Physics Laboratory: experiments and theory
Šabatka, Zdeněk ; Dvořák, Leoš (advisor) ; Hubeňák, Josef (referee) ; Tesař, Jiří (referee)
Title: Experiments for Interactive Physics Laboratory: experiments and theory Author: RNDr. Zdeněk Šabatka Department: Department of Physics Education Supervisor: doc. RNDr. Leoš Dvořák, CSc. Supervisor's e-mail address: DvorakL@plk.mff.cuni.cz Abstract: The present doctoral thesis is concerned with practical work of students in physics education. More specifically, it focuses on preparation and implementation of practical seminars for high school students in the Interactive Physics Laboratory at Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague. The thesis describes practical work as one of the teaching methods with a focus on its goals, effectiveness and different types of assignment. Furthermore, the concept of the Interactive Physics Laboratory based also on Czech teachers' opinions gained from a small-scale survey is described. The main part of the thesis consists of activities organized into four topics suitable for the Interactive Physics Laboratory. The topics were processed both theoretically and experimentally and all prepared activities were tested on high school students. The current thesis describes the outcomes of two surveys that concentrated on students' and teachers' opinions. Data were collected using questionnaires. One survey focused on students' subjective experience with...

Physical experiments with simple materials
BARTL, Adam
This diploma thesis "Experiment with simple tools" is about preparation experiments made from object of daily use or different commercially available tools. Experiments are direct to fluid subject. Experiments are constructed to homemade use. Working students? sheets are prepared for these experiments. They are attached to this thesis. These students sheets serve as leading in independent work. Students after them can try experiment and brush subject up.
